Political Shopping: Mbaka Goofed Again
I have taken time to analyse some excerpts of the speeches purportedly made by the fiery Catholic priest, Rev. Fr Ejike Mbaka during the occasion of his ministry's harvest and bazaar, Sunday, 2nd December.
Here are some of them:
1. “You can be promising and doing for them in Anambra. In your capacity and what God has done for you as governor, God hates stinginess. What I am saying is not to please you, but what will save your life. Otherwise you and Atiku will fail."
So for the reason that he has shown "stinginess" by not donating or having a project in his church, Obi and Atiku will fail. In other words their success is tied to their generosity to him.
2. "Governors of Ebonyi and Enugu made donations without announcing at the altar, your own is taking time, the way you and Atiku are moving will end in shame.”
recent surgery in Germany.
3, “Orji Uzor Kalu suppose to be the chairman of today’s event... He said okay that he doesn’t want to delegate someone, that he will come here either this week or next week, that if he comes, he will stay and worship God with us in this church and that there is a project he will do here. So, I am satisfied with him,” said the fiery priest."
Because Orji Kalu has shown commitment to the suppof his ministry, he's satisfied with him. And by implication, he supports his ambition and wish him success.
President Muhammadu Buhari was represented at the event by Senator Uzodinma, who announced N2 million for breaking of kolanut by Buhari. He also announced that Buhari will build a hospital in the adoration ground.
Supposedly buoyed by the donation, Mbaka said, rather euphorically:
4. “Uzodimna would become the next governor by the grace of God.”
Uzodinma, by donating has proved himself worthy of the blessing from Mbaka. And as such, he has won for himself the governorship of Imo state. It is same with the people Hope represents; in buying for himself, he also bought for them.
If indeed, these allusions are the true statements that came from the man of God, my conclusion is that it is unbecoming of the expectations of his status and a sad reflection of his abysmal degeneration. It is too bad!
The way Mbaka haa gone in this instance, portrays him as a money monger, soliciting in rather shameless manner, for funds from politicians and basing the offering of supposed blessing on the ability of these selfsame politicians to respond. This is so disgusting.
And the effrontery with which he makes such solicitation and unbrazen utterances as though acting on institutional mandate, herein the church, is so demeaning and insulting.
Mbaka has, beyond letting himself been slipped off by the waters of politics and yielding so low to the fall, brought the sacred institution of the Catholic Church to ridicule and acerbic condemnation. But we make bold to say that it does not in any way reflect the belief and view of the Church, and so must the local ordinary of Enugu diocese, under whose care Mbaka is issue strong words of caution cum disclaimer.
The time is rife to call a spade by its name. Strong faithful of the Catholic Church, and even of his Adoration Ministry, must discountenance this allusion. We must not be cowered by spiritual slavery that makes us believe that because Mbaka is 'spiritual' he shouldn't be challenged or called to order. He is human and very much fallible.
In my capacity as a Catholic faithful, I detest that posture of Fr Mbaka and ask him to refrain from such. It is uncharismatic and irresponsible (especially as coming from a Roman Catholic priest).
