What's Up With Madumere's Impeachment

News filtering in is that Imo state deputy governor was today, the 30th of July, impeached by the House of Assembly.

Though the impeachment of the deputy guvnor of Imo state was not unexpected, going by the fallout he had with his principal, Rochas Okorocha, the hastiness with which the act was orchestrated speaks more volume.

It was just a week ago that the notice of impeachment was served the deputy governor on trumped up charges, which were mere strike to perfect the act. (For if they were reasons enough, they'd been all there this while). And only just two weeks earlier that the motion for his removal was moved.

Meanwhile, what's my take on this?

I would say that what's happening to Eze Madumere is a return of the wizardry that he watched sent to his predecessor, Jude Agbaso, and from which he benefited. It's, at that time his moment of excitement, when in a fast pace approach, Agbaso was axed out and he,  Madumere quickly brought in as replacement.

The same mettle which was given to his predecessor and which he benefited from is been handed down to him and in the same quick move.

The lesson Madumere must learn in his new ordeal is that no one frolics with the devil and expect to be safe from the things he's known for. You cannot be a friend to the devil.

Madumere dined and wined with Okorocha, when in their friendship convenience, they were in deep embrace- trusting and romancing themselves in political entanglement. Madumere at that time, never envisaged what has now befallen him, nor even had an iota of having to fall out with his close ally.

Indeed, it is unfortunate that after enjoying the flavour of their relationship, Madumere realised suddenly by the reason of his political interest that he's being working with the devil, who needed to be distanced. How laughable is this 'sudden' awareness after almost 6 years of romance.

That Madumere's interest in contesting seemed to be the reason for his falling out with his Oga is not enough to be justifiable, especially when, he had all the while, got the time and the circumstances (of the feelings of pains and suffering dabbing throughout the entire state) as enough reason, to have spoken out against it, resisted it and fallen out with the super guvnor.

That reason would have been enough justified. Not really the reason of political selfish interest.

The truth, which is the focus here, is that Madumere cannot deny entirely being privy to the many draconian and insensitive policies of this current administration that have put countless miseries upon the citizenry of Imo state.  That he knew and decided to keep silent while it lasted, even if he was against them, was his choice.

HE Eze Madumere played effective role, whether by silence or consent, to the ripping off which the Okorocha administration has subjected Imolites to. His recent impeachment is indeed the serving of a fitting meal.

The fight for the people's interest should be the defining motive of any political aspirations, and only those who have shown proves of supporting and fighting for the people are worth giving the attention as they come.

Finally, I'll say that Eze Madumere never fought for the people. He enjoyed the good days in isolation, it wouldn't call for much if he does same in the time of his wilderness experience.

Imo shall be saved!!
