Mbaka: How Differently Is He Dabbling Into Politics?

Dabble: take part in an activity in a casual or superficial way. (cf: dictionary.com)

The other day, exactly on a day to mark the 2021 World Communications Day, the Archbishop of the Catholic Diocese of Abuja, the Rt Rev Ignatius Kaigama, as part of his press briefing, had opined that the Rev. Fr Ejike Mbaka, was dabbling into politics, which according to him was outside of the jurisdiction of his priesthood.

The statement of censure directed to the fiery priest had come just down in line after His Lordship, the Archbishop had made statements lampooning the present administration on their mismanagement of the security situation in the country, calling on the current federal government to do the needful in keeping kidnappers out of business, rounding up bandits and dismantling elements of banditry.

This call for Mbaka to desist from or be cautioned on dabbling into politics is just one among streams of similar calls along the years. The history of Mbaka and his many politcally-related controversies are very open.

However, to be honest, on a closer scrutiny of the doings of Fr Mbaka all through the years, I've yet to find how differently the controversial cleric had engaged in sociopolitical vituperations in such a manner different from how others have so much, and rightly so, expressed their views (in bringing respective governments to sit up) that would warrant his own "dabbling into politics" to be different and awkward.

Need we to expatiate what dabbling is? Or shall we begin to differentiate the concept based on who said and what was said? If dabbling is to mean how Mbaka does his all through these years, what indeed is different in how he carries his own from the methods employed by others, and among those who have picked and still picking offense with his? For as much as I know, each one of them and even more have so "dabbled" into politics and political happenings- the very thing they wanna decry of a man that seems to do his his own way!

The dabbling, of which Mbaka has consistently been accused of, is it his consistent trolling and condemnation of bad leadership and his predictions of what he feels have been revealed to him as it concerns political developments? Because definitely it wouldn't be as seen from the perspective of getting actively involved in politics as to contest or vie for positions and solicit for offices, which as a priest he's supposed to shy away and which of course he hasn't done yet.

If it is not the above then, what's his "dabbling" and how is his own very concept of dabbling different from those of Archbishop Kaigama, Pastor EA Adeboye, Pastor Paul Adefarasin et als, who at some points have risen up to criticize and call to order various political leaders who have derailed from their primary responsibilities?

I want to understand the rationale behind the call from every quarter, especially the Catholic hierarchy, on Mbaka to desist and/or be stemmed from dabbling into politics. Is it that he should remain silence in the events of government failures and observed aberrations in political leadership or is it that if he feels he has received an oracle, that he should just disobey the prod and be silent in order to appear politically correct?

I just want to get what the fuss it is about Mbaka desisting from 'political dabble'; for as it is now, I'm yet to see how he's dabbled into it, in the first instance. Unless there's a hatchet plan to silence whoever that says as it is- in this case, using the gamut of priestly restrictiveness!
