The Love We Share, The Life We Live

"All things work together for them that love God, for them who are called by his name." And who are those that love God? They are those who keep his command, to love God and their neighbors as they love themselves. I heard these very wordings of the scripture today, as I worshipped in church, and it struck me in a very remote way. As I listened to the priest continuously harped on this very words and emphasized on it by delving deeper into how one could experience this 'working together for good', it scraped me to ponder on the subject of love, the very instrument of our essence of living. Summarily, the sermonist taught about how love is central in obtaining graces from God and how it would be impossible to love without sacrifice. But truly, the love of God could only be imaginary without the practical effectuation made manifest by the love of man to his fellow human beings. The point he made being that it would be a deception to claim the love for God witho

Members Excited As Nnamdi Kanu Visits Owerri

Owerri, the Imo State capital, at yesterday was agog with frenzy set up by members of the Indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB), who were expecting the visit of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu. All dressed in their Biafra-coloured attire of black-red-green and heavily flouting the defunct Biafran flag of different sizes, the zealous members marched through major streets like Wetheral and Douglas, where they held up traffic, with some volunteering to control traffic. Nnamdi Kanu in what is seen as started wide visits within the supposed Biafra territory is rumoured to be visiting Imo state yesterday, July, 28th. He had earlier visited Rivers and Ebonyi states, where he was received by tumultuous crowds. When asked about the visit of their spiritual leader to the state, a stern looking and solemn member, who preferred anonymity said, "Yes, he'll be coming. That's why I am around." Asked by this reporter if Nnamdi Kanu is already in the state, his response was, "I don&

Amazon's Bezos Becomes World Richest, Dangote Retains Africa's Spot

Even as the globe had a newest richest man in the person of Jeff Bezos, Africa's richest Aliko Dangote still retained his spot, according to Forbes. The Chief Executive of Amazon.com Inc was able to unseat Bill Gates of Microsoft to become the richest person in the world. He profited from the meteoric rise in stock of the online commercial business to earn a net fortune of over 90.6 billion dollars. In what appeared a soaring rise of the online businesses, which saw Facebook and others gaining in massive stock rise, Amazon.com topped in gain by amassing a 1.6 percent rise on.  Although, Africa’s richest man, Nigerian Aliko Dangote dropped to 105th on the 2017 Forbe’s real-time billionaires’ ranking, he maintains the lead in Africa, as the richest man. Aliko Dangote, who was ranked 51st in 2016 with a net worth of $15.4 billion, currently has a net worth of $12.2 billion, africannews.com reports. The businessman was ranked 37th richest man in the world in 2014 with a net wo

Buhari's Health: The Irrationalities Of The God-players

Image
One of life's salient realities is that of man's mortality. He's controlled by and easily susceptible to the vagaries that tilt life. Though we find it hard to accept, the indispensableness of man to life's uncontrollable situations cannot be denied. Man is limited, man is vulnerable; and that's as far as nature's forces are concerned. Yes, indeed he can die, just as more easily he can be indisposed. Buhari and Governor-delegates It is with this reality that the scenarios playing around the health challenge of Nigeria's President Buhari calls for interest, a rather disturbing one. It is interesting because of the dimensions it has been taken to, both by those seemingly working for him and those seemingly antagonistic to his leadership. The fact is that the extent and the manner both sides have taken the situation is very much disturbing. The way in which the two parties have, for reasons spinning around sentiments, handled the ill health of Mr Pr

Conscience: The World's Plaster Of Paris!

Conscience is one substance that stands very remarkably in the human composition. Its remarkableness finds focus in its conscious coordination of the human mind. But how many in our world today have given the conscience its right of place? How many indeed respond to its leading? Which explains the unrestricted skirmishes we've continuously found our world in. But then what is the conscience? Conscience is the human guiding factor, whose nature is programmed to detest wrong and extol right decision. The conscience is a natural package that bears no discrimination. It is so to say, a metaphorical effect of fashion prided by all individuals; a distinct aspect of the human personality which we all share together in common irrespective of social stratum, creed and age. The conscience finds a unanimity that is devoid of any ambiguity in all of living creatures and the prominent amongst the common identity we bear as humans. It is a single voice that resounds in all human beings;

Do Not Judge People By Their Momentary Actions

I'd looked at some things, have studied them critically and came to the conclusion that when looking at individuals and trying to adjudge them for what they are, one consideration should be salient. The habit of someone's action is quite different from their character as a person. Sometimes what we do, the things we say and how we posit them seem to send a signal that impulse people to have a rather erroneous general view of who we are. It is to say that some people's yardstick of describing a person is on a particular action the individual does, which at the time may be cool or displeasing to them. This instantaneous show of attitude engraves on the viewer's mind the kind of personality he sees his object to be. Even as not entirely wrong this chip of the ice may be indicative of the iceberg, it would be a largely erroneous, very unfair analysis to lump in someone into a character or personality just because of a particular action he's shown. As humans, we

July 18: Between Mandela And Selfless Service

Image
Every 18th of July is marked as Mandela Day. The United Nations in its resolution in 2005 adopted the day which happens to be the birthday day of Nelson Mandela to celebrate this iconic figure and the many inspiring things he posit. Nelson was born in 1918 on this day. Mandela Nelson Mandela needs no introduction. He is a phenomenon ipso facto. He is a sort of movement by reason of what he had achieved. Nelson Mandela is one man that Africa could stand up for, for he reflected and deeply propagated the continent. A father figure, a hero, he is as regarded by compatriots, the Madiba. For much we know in the emerging new Africa, Mandela is a rallying force for the march to renaissance in the African struggle with the African spirit. He is the beacon of what is real and true democracy. In conceiving the Mandela Day, it is the principal interest of the united Nations to eulogize and immortalize the personality and noble values of Nelson Mandela. But it more than captures the l

Our Universities: Of Beauties Without Brains

Around the universe, there abound works of creation that inspire wonder and elicit awe. But the human creation stand remarkably out. It is believed and scientifically proven that humans possess the biggest and most profound brain structure even as well as the most coordinated body shape and anatomy. Human beings are such artistic designs of beauty and intelligence. It is for this reason that man and woman are referred to as Homo sapiens- the succinct description of what is an intelligent, coordinated and distinctive being. The pursuit of man, as has been the case throughout the ages could be said to be centered on the subsistence and advancement of what makes him a human, different and separate from other creations. It is to improve his living conditions by inventive discoveries and self-development. This is seen chiefly in the pursuit of man to provide for himself the basic needs of life, to wit, food, shelter, clothing and education. For all that has been observed, it seems the

Ahiara Diocese: The Defiance And The Pope's Supremacy

Image
It is with sorrow that I write this treatise, and this is because the church has consistently been plunged into ridicule by what is an unnecessarily lingering crisis. The insistence of the Catholic faithful in the diocese of Ahiara that they have the final say over the bishopric position of the diocese sends a stale wave which continuity seems just awful. Pope Francis Peter Okpaleke, the Anambra born priest chosen to head the church in Ahiara Mbaise, was appointed by the Emeritus Pope Benedict IX in the year 2012, and pathetic to this course, he has yet to assume the office suggested by his position since his appointment. The reason being that the Catholic faithful, whom he was to head and lead as chief shepherd, has refused to accept his person because he happens to be not one of them. Since the announcement of the choice of Okpaleke, the church in Mbaise has been in limbo, orchestrated by the crisis of nonacceptance that has seen priests display outright crudity, incivility

N-Power: Beneficiary Commended For Honesty

Joshua Daniel, a beneficiary of the first phase of the N-Power programme of the federal government, has shown that there still abound people with conscience and integrity in a nation grappling with corruption. Daniel, from Taraba state, took a bold step, even in the face of the rippling economic downturn faced by Nigerians, to return his own mistaken share of the monthly stipend. He had concluded his program and so when he was credited for the months of June and July, he willfully returned them. This was revealed by the Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo in his twitter handle, who commended Daniel for his rare honesty. @ProfOsinbajo:  "A story of integrity. Daniel refunded payments of N-Power stipends credited to him for the period he had already disengaged from #NPowerNG..."

Scores of commuters traveling along Auchi-Benin expressway, on Saturday, met their untimely death, in a carnage like mishap which had also caused gridlock for over 6 hours. According to an eyewitness account, made available by DailyPost, “two trailers belonging to BUA Industries and Dangote Nigeria Limited, rammed on three commercial vehicles, killing everyone on board”.  The source said, “both trailers were trying to negotiate a bend coming from opposite direction in a steep but lost control, jamming all commercial vehicles in between them, killing all passengers except one ma whose voice is been heard groaning under the bus with the BUA truck on it”. July: A Sense Of Perfection

We are into July... July is the seventh month of the Roman calendar. The month of July is significant for many reasons. Here is the leader in the surreptitious partitioning of the year into a sixthly divide. July, in following the tradition of the Romans is an immortalisation of Julius Caesar, that notable emperor of Rome, whose end was contrived via a boggling conspiracy. July is the month of jubilation and celebration for a victory of stepping into the beginning of yet another halfth of a year. July is amongst the few with three tenths and an additional day. July is today; it starts now and rolls unto the additional 30 days. And from biblical review, the month of July which represents the seventh month of the year, signifies the month of perfection. Seven is a number that suggests conclusion, completion or consummation. It signifies perfection. Thus,it would be apt to state that, even as it marks the beginning of the second half of the year, July feeds us with a sense of
