Members Excited As Nnamdi Kanu Visits Owerri


Owerri, the Imo State capital, at yesterday was agog with frenzy set up by members of the Indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB), who were expecting the visit of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

All dressed in their Biafra-coloured attire of black-red-green and heavily flouting the defunct Biafran flag of different sizes, the zealous members marched through major streets like Wetheral and Douglas, where they held up traffic, with some volunteering to control traffic.

Nnamdi Kanu in what is seen as started wide visits within the supposed Biafra territory is rumoured to be visiting Imo state yesterday, July, 28th. He had earlier visited Rivers and Ebonyi states,where he was received by tumultuous crowds.

When asked about the visit of their spiritual leader to the state, a stern looking and solemn member, who preferred anonymity said, "Yes, he'll be coming. That's why I am around." Asked by this reporter if Nnamdi Kanu is already in the state, his response was, "I don't know, he's a spirit, our spiritual leader."

In his speech on arrival, the agitator, who was granted bail on the condition that he should not be seen in a crowd of more than 10, insisted that without the requested referendum there won't be elections in Imo and other 'Biafran' states.
