Our Universities: Of Beauties Without Brains

Around the universe, there abound works of creation that inspire wonder and elicit awe. But the human creation stand remarkably out. It is believed and scientifically proven that humans possess the biggest and most profound brain structure even as well as the most coordinated body shape and anatomy.

Human beings are such artistic designs of beauty and intelligence. It is for this reason that man and woman are referred to as Homo sapiens- the succinct description of what is an intelligent, coordinated and distinctive being.

The pursuit of man, as has been the case throughout the ages could be said to be centered on the subsistence and advancement of what makes him a human, different and separate from other creations. It is to improve his living conditions by inventive discoveries and self-development. This is seen chiefly in the pursuit of man to provide for himself the basic needs of life, to wit, food, shelter, clothing and education.

For all that has been observed, it seems the pursuits of these equally essential needs are given did disequilibrated focus, in the sense that a section is given more consideration than the others. And this is seen to be more or less preponderant on the female folk.

The average lady is believed to spend more than 30 minutes decorating herself and making in the bid to enhance her looks appear more beautiful than she is really. And this statistics shows how this tendency depreciates along the years, after adult. That's to say that young ladies, especially teenagers of school age are the most obsessed by the niceties.

Thus, we see among school ladies the over-concentration to developing looks to appear more tasteful, more sexy and more beautiful and a little or no consideration towards the search for knowledge and improving on the intelligence quotient. Consequently, we see, abounding in our institutions of learning a situation of explosive "beauties without brains".

It is pathetic to see how much time, energy and resources most schoolgirls give to their making up, dressing up and braiding up. It is pathetic more so, how little or no time and resources these same girls give to their books, studies and education. It is indeed very pathetic how the search for fading beauty has outweighed the search for knowledge, which by itself is powerful and undying.

How can the human pursuit of life be more developmental, more innovative and more beneficial? How can humans be stable in the results of his commitments to his basic needs? How can the gap between lasting intelligence and ephemeral beauty be bridged? It is only if our university girls could give their brains as more time they give to their beauties!
