Be Raved By That Hopeless Situation

Our hopeless situations, oftentimes they come, give us the impression of a period so totally empty and vacuous; of a period when nothing seems to be available, to be working. The impression it gives us is mostly that of worries, of thoughts that most times breeds unwelcoming concerns. When things appear hopeless, it is practically that moment when it seems everything, every support is gone; it is that period of uphill task when the individual feels he stands alone, just by himself, at mercy's end. When what ordinarily is seen as what makes him a man and her a woman is far gone: no money, no means of getting any. He or she looks right and left, up and down, but to see just nothing, emptiness staring and digging at him, at her. That particular moment he is hopeless. But the truth, however not often seen at a shallow look, is the irony that percolates the situation. It is the truth from discovery of the silent yet stably standing presence of the defining moment of vast availabili

Be Guided By Your Reasons

"Never let your sentimental crave define your step of judgment; instead, if need be, let your emotions be defined by your sense of reason"    Oftentimes our actions tend to just hurriedly stream from the peripheral emotive drive. That's to say, we just act even suddenly as we become seemingly stirred to act and/or react.  But this is not how an action that should be responsible and should be one we can held really accountable for,  as our decision and actions,  should be done. That action we are answerable to, and which of course, all our actions ought to be, must be one that doesn't take our sense of reasoning unawares. Such actions should be carefully thought out, carefully perused, so that come rain, come shine, we could say 'yes, I did it, yes, I am answerable.' For mostly reasons coming from a failure to think over and subject to reason our choices of actions, many have plunged into regrets and unnecessary self-justification. Because the actions w

Before You Believe, Be Sure To Be Convinced

Belief, generally, is the acceptance by the mind of what has been received. According to Munro, our beliefs come from the ideas we've been exposed to or have developed from our observations and analyses. On the other hand, conviction depicts that a mind has seen the proof of something which it could accept; it means a sense of being sure of something. In believing, some of the ideas we received might be true or false,  but they soon form our belief system or philosophy once they have been incorporated. This brings the question over the veracity and relevance of what we believe. It's as such necessary to make good reviews of the things we've been exposed to before we accept them to form a deep part of our minds. The above then makes a necessary reordering of the priority flow between conviction and belief. This is coming from the fact that many sees the object of belief as coming before that of conviction. It is rather catastrophic to hold firmly what you are not sur

Why Men Wear Underpants

Be it briefs, jocks, pants, etc., well, sometimes you wonder why men wear undies, considering that they wear trousers and are expected to be satisfied with that coverage. So While it is true that some men wear Underpants for ostensibly valid reasons,  most wear undies because they don’t know any better or any different, while it also  depends on personal preferences. According to an opinion poll sampled by Quora, an online platform and reproduced by punchng.com,  here are men’s opinion about wearing  underpants. Some respondents are of the view that most underwear for men will tend to bunch up their “stuff” or wad things up in a “pouch” or sock or smother it in excessive cloth. None of these is truly healthy for man parts, respondents say. A respondent who had a beef with wearing underpants says, “Take the scrotum. It’s really a totally underestimated, under-appreciated bodily organ. Look at it hanging there outside and away from your body. Especially look at it when you’ve just st

Radio Bayelsa GM Flogs Staff Members

Some staff members of the Bayelsa state owned radio station, popularly known as Glory FM were alleged to have been flogged by the General Manager. Mr John Idumaye was said to have flogged some three female staffers and one male, Mr.  Tonye Yemoleigha, who happens to be the station's NUJ chairman. According to Tonye, "We have reported the matter to the Ekeki police Division and sought medical attention at the Federal Medical Center, Yenagoa." After the station went off air due to the strike embarked upon by aggrieved members,  the GM was accused to have mobilized some police men and some of the staffers who had refused to join the strike to reopen the station. Although no reasonable programs were aired, the station kept playing some musicals all through. While the NUJ chairman in the station had accused Mr Idumaye of not carrying them along and sidelining the Public Service Rules in his policies, the GM said some of the staff members were being used to scuttle his

Nevertheless, Honesty Still Pay

Chen, a 17-year-old high school sophomore, working as a food vendor, had just finished a food delivery to a customer when he got a phone call, asking him to make another one. But while he answered the call, he accidentally hit and scratched a BMW. Chen hastened to make delivery first. The boy, first of all, made delivery of second order and returned to compose an apology letter which he left at the scratched car. According to CNN, in the morning, when the BMW driver, Xue Zhanmin, assessed the damage to his scratched car, he found a letter the teen had glued to the car door along with 311 yuan ($45) in cash.  Touched by the delivery boy's honesty and realizing he probably came from a poor family, Xue asked the local traffic officer to help him find Chen. As the story circulated through local media reports, he eventually did. When the boy was brought to him, Xue not only returned the boy's 45dollars but gave him 10,000 yuan (approx. $1400)for his honesty.

Pastor Curses Sponsors of BBNaija

Image
A pastor in Rivers state, Monday, declared that for the reasons of immoral acts going on in BBNaija, that God is not happy with the TV reality show. Pastor Michael Winning said that the sponsors of the program will suffer bankruptcy if they continue to support the show. "I curse with anger anybody busy sponsoring Big Brother Nigeria. If they attempt sponsoring it next year, may their resources dry up," he wrote on his Facebook Wall. The post has long been deleted. It would be recalled that, as a reality show, BBNaija has been a scenery of amorousness, of smooching, kissing and sex between housemates. The most prominent being the closeness between Bisola and fair Thin Tall Tony.

Yes, All Things Are Possible (1)

"Indeed, all things are possible to them that believe." All things are possible for as much as we give force and life to the every sphere of possibility which our minds present to us. Indeed all things are possible to him who believe that what his mind offers are workable assertions that could be given physicality; a physicality which is anchored on the appreciating self emotively birthing this conceived idea into substantial reality. It requires an emotive conviction and courage to embrace warmly the postulations of the possibilities that lay in the mind’s world; a measure of committed trust and strong belief in its revelations of are needed. This is validly necessary because of the unverified trajectory of metamorphosis which seems to be a near farce—more of a mystery to the organismal self. Hence, it requires a great deal of faith so stable to withstand the tremors of despair that could arise to jig the steady mechanism for realizing the designs that had existed sol

Between Buhari's Inaction And Trumps Audacity

Last Monday the National Security Adviser to the new administration of the United States, Michael Flynn, resigned his appointment of just over 3 weeks. Inside story has emerged how Flynn took that bold step after the content of his contact with the Russian ambassador was leaked. Reports say that he was advised to step aside by President Donald Trump despite been one of his close cabinet members and a profound supporter of the Trump campaign. The resignation of Flynn brings to mind the call for and refusal of the resignation of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and consequently the inaction of President Buhari towards this. Flashback... Mr Babachir Lawal was indicted by the Senate of inappropriate act that questions his office integrity when he diverted over N220 million, money meant for IDPs to the claimed clearing of weeds. The Senate had recommended for his sack but was bluntly refused by the presidency with a letter it sent questioning the genuineness of

Still On The Mind Matter

"Our minds bring untapped reality into view." Our mind is a world of its own; a sphere separate and distinct from the day-to-day world that feeds our limited sensitivities and which we’ve become heavily inclined to cherish. Its distinctiveness, notwithstanding, the labyrinth of the mind-world far exceeds what we could feel and touch; it navigates and stretches much more beyond the dimensions of the temporal and physical realm. The mind is everywhere. It covers both what is accessible to the senses and those that rattles its awareness; permeating the deeper secrets of life. With the mind, we can hold the sum of reality within view. With the mind we come to appreciate the verities of what defines life, because by it we are made to understand the deep, wide and expansive secrets of life; that the world does not consist merely of the things and phenomenon that present themselves to the physical. Actually, with the mind we commune with situations, extant phenomena that are

Remorseful Flynn and Conscienceless Babachir

Babachir, Nigeria's SGF Early Monday, the National Security Adviser to the new America's president Donald Trump and a kitchen cabinet member, Michael Flynn resigned his appointment amidst falsity over his contact with Kremlin. Mr Flynn stepped down over controversy that trailed his conversation with a Russian ambassador, where he disclosed issues about America's sanctions on Russia. He wrote Donald Trump informing of his decision. In the letter he apologized for misinforming the president and his vice over the discussion which took place before inauguration, last year. The three star general received backlash after the record of his contact with the Russian diplomat was leaked, exposing him as having lied on what they really discussed, forcing him to tender his resignation, Monday. Like Mr Flynn, the Nigerian Secretary to Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, has been accused of diverting moneys meant for IDPs into private pocket. Last year, he was acc

Black Soot Threatens Port Harcourt Residents

An unexplained soot has taken over the sky bed of Port Harcourt, Rivers state, downing black dust on inhabitants. Residents of the city has taken to twitter to post pictures with the hashtag #StopTheSoot, in expression of protest over the situation and calling on the governments to do something. Various sources have been blamed for the situation, with some claiming it's the attitude of residents who are prone to burning tyres and rubbers, others blamed it on the actions of construction companies.  A twitter user, @PolygraphM had tweeted: #stopthesoot CGC Construction Company Along obiri ikwerre Airport link Road has been shut down by RS task force on black soot. Vanguard reports that the soot appeared in November last year, with clouds becoming a hazy grey causing more people to bewearing protective face masks. What's Love Got To Do With Val's Day?

It's St Valentine's Day, the day often called Lovers day; when love, coming fully into visible air, should be felt and expressed. It is a day open for willful expression of love, and which many have chosen to do in their own convenient way, ways that meet their ends. But Valentine's Day or Lovers day, what is the focal point? The focal point, to me, remains the battle of love against hatred. Yes, the point of view is the re-enactment of the 'fight' between the epitome of today's celebration- which I think ought to be a moment of deep reflection rather than of the instituted fun fare-St Valentine versus Emperor Claudius. In Claudius indeed we see the manifestation of coldness to individual concerns. In him we saw how the value that life reflects pulverized and battered. In him we saw really the enactment of hatred. But there came a man thought to be indifferent to the very expression of what love seemingly is. Reverend Father Valentine came and showed tha

No More Valentine Celebrations For Pakistani People

An Islamabad High Court in Pakistan's capital on Monday banned the celebration of Valentine's Day across the country 'with immediate effect.' The order prohibits any form of media adverts that reference Valentine's Day. It also proscribed the sale of associated merchandise stating that 14th February  cannot be celebrated in "any public space or government building." The judgement, according to report by CNN, came after a citizen called Abdul Waheed filed a petition claiming that ongoing promotions of Valentine's Day were "against the teachings of Islam and should be banned immediately." In Pakistan, resistance against Val's Day is not completely unusual with protests and rallies held every February 14 against it.

US Trump Speaks With Nigeria's Buhari, Promises To Fund Anti-terror War

Image
The president of the United States, Donald Trump, today spoke with Nigeria's president Muhammadu Buhari. The discussion focused on commendation and assurances of mutual cooperation. While Trump commended his Nigerian counterpart on the some of the successes recorded in the war against insurgency, especially the rescue of some of the Chibok schoolgirls, Mr Buhari congratulated Trump on his victory and inauguration. In what is seen as the first conversation with Buhari and his first call to any African nations, the controversial US president, whose campaign rhetoric on Africa made the call a surprise, sought on improved bilateral relationship with Africa's giant. He promised to support the ongoing war against the Islamist Boko Haram by sending a bill that would support the funding of Nigeria on arms purchase to Congress. Mr Trump ended his call with an invitation to Buhari to visit at a time convenient to both leaders. Mr Buhari is still on his extended medical vacat

Policeman On Duty Crushed, Mangled To Death

The Chukwuma Nwoha junction, intersecting the Aladinma and MCC roads in Owerri, Imo state, was made a scene when a heavy-duty truck crushed to death a traffic control police man on duty, Monday evening. The incident happened around some minutes past 8.0pm. Visiting the scene of the accident, a butchered body having on the Nigerian police uniform lay on the ground, with a cut out hind limb just some distance away. The limb which was complete from the thigh down had a booth on. It was suspected that the policeman was standing on the road as part of his duty when the truck rammed into him, slicing him completely into an unrecognizable divide of crushed trunk that bore a head and separately detached limbs. The truck in question was seen parked just ahead the body on the road. The Chukwuma Nwoha junction of the MCC road has always had the presence of traffic police who regulate motor movement. Adele, Beyoncè, Chance Shine At The Grammys

Image
The 59th Annual Grammy Awards was held yesterday with much display of musical performances with a little of one of political statement that suggested the existing political situation in the US, where Adele and Beyonce stole the show. Adele, who made a rendition of her "Hello" song and a tribute of George Michael's "Fast love " where she lost track, swearing and apologizing, went home with five Grammy's. Adele's "Hello" won for both song and record of the year. She also won for the album of the year. Adele became so emotional about her awards, admitting that Beyonce deserved more. Referring to her as the artist of my life, she said, "This album for me -- the 'Lemonade' album -- was just so monumental and so well thought out and so beautiful and soul-bearing and we all got to see another side to you that you don't always let us see and we appreciate that," she said as Beyoncé teared up from the front row. "You

Big Brother Naija: Nipple Show Ends With Cocoice Eviction

Cocoice, the fair and busty housemate in the ongoing reality TV show, Big Brother Naija, became the latest to be evicted, Sunday. Cocoice Last week, fair Miyonse and dark Soma were evicted. Cocoice was nominated for eviction along with her other housemates, Bisola, Bassey, Gifty, Bassey, whom she had freely given her milk organ and Debbie Rise. She told Ebuka, the show-host, that she couldn't wait to be back home and that she was grateful for the new brand the platform had given her, saying that she would go fully into her singing career releasing "hits and more hits". When asked about her having any crunches in the house, she said there was none and that her feelings didn't go beyond "likeness".

Are All Things Possible, Indeed? (3)

This is a continuation of the discourse that focuses on the possibility of the mind. Of course, there is an existing connectivity between the idealist world and that of realism, we are made to believe; a pact which numbs our consciousness. Everything which could claim a place in the realm of the physical was once a product of the mind; of thoughts and ideas emitted in a Mind. They are the audacious outcomes of a steady and committed transformation of the wishful thinking and imprinted imaginations skewed within the mind and perceived by the sentient organs. It is the mystical transmutation of the mind’s consistent constructions into concrete results that led to the existence of the things we could feel and observe. However, the fjord of the probably expressed alarms- and the awe over these acts of transmutation- could perhaps emanate from the near-mystery of their translations; of how idealism transcended into palpable realism. Many have because of circumscribed inability and

Where To Find Some Hot Dollars & Pounds

Image
Some heavy piles of hotty dollar notes were discovered in the house of a former GMD of the NNPC, Mr Andrew Yakubu, by operatives of the EFCC in Kaduna State. "Smart" Andrew The amount? Over 9.7 million nited States Dollars. Do you know the value in our own currency, the naira? Billions of Nigerian nairas. Over 3.6 million naira was piled, cooly sitting in Yakubu's house left in a slum. And if that does not rake your heart, maybe, just maybe because you prefer the British currency. Another 750, 000 GBP was recovered from the same house and in the same place. That is way beyond N360,000,000. Is there any money still remaining in NNPC after "Smart" Andrew left? Just asking. And do you know why Goodluck Jonathan didn't realize this massive looting?  It"s highly probable that the US government didn't know of this stealing, this raking swindling, which was unfortunately not corruption. They were blinded by Yakubu's "jaz". Yakubu

What A Live Cockroach Was Doing In A Woman's Brain

A 42 years old woman had a live cockroach removed from inside her brain. This happened at the hospital in Stanley Medical College, India. A report from CNN indicated that the woman had come to the hospital complaining of a headache that was accompanied by itching and difficulty in breathing. A doctor conducted an endoscopy to determine the source of her pain. At first he didn't see anything. Then he did -- the legs of some kind of creature. "The cockroach had burrowed into the roof of the nose, almost near the skull base, which is the dividing point between the brain and the nose," Shankar said. "It was quite unusual," according to Professor MN Shankar, head of the Ear, Nose and Throat section.  The cockroach was pulled out with the help of suction machines and forceps over the course of 45 minutes. It was about an inch long and still alive. It had been in the woman's body for about 12 hours. With the creature removed, both the headache and her respi

What You Should Think When You Fall...

In life, we win because we decide to so have it and because we have such attitude. It is entirely our personal acceptance of what is our disposition that crafts us into success or failure. That's to say, perception defines knowledge and self-perceptibility categorizes our worldview. People have failed because they answered to other's description; leaving what you are cut out for, to follow other's destination, to be guided by their decisions, to be accessed by their specific, individualized parameters of success and failure is the acceptance of self-worthlessness and it is remarkably failure. The thing about failure is that it is significantly a thing of the mind, it is about how one sees himself, appreciates his worth and whatever it is they have or haven't achieved. Failure is a mindset, a belief that is initiated in the mind even as success is a journey that starts from the mind, one that a man embarks upon, knows the destination himself and accesses it himself.

Here's Why A Man Would Kill The Parent

A 25 year old man was said to have axed the father to death. In a situation seen as a disagreement resulting from what ostensibly should  be a quiet, petty dispute with his brother over his marriage choice, the man, aggrieved, rather mistakenly fell the axe on his father, not once, not twice. Would the third instance not have informed him, even if the first and second hadn't as to suggest error, that he had had his father for a chop? Even if it was his brother, as he supposedly was meant, wasn't it such callous, such heartless act, to have killed, to have axed someone? But then he killed, mercilessly, his father, his "dad". And that is the issue. And the big question, the prod for discourse is why, on earth, should a man lift his hand as to strike, to hit and going to such a weirdly extent of hacking the father, the biological father, to death? It is a question that has turned to an issue so critical and very deeply disturbing. I think it was so unconscious, d

Why Some Crazy Thoughts Pop To Mind

Image
Thought, a product, as its process of thinking, is an inevitable phenomenon. What could she be thinking Thinking could be inferred as the act of conception, of creating concepts, and sometimes it goes along with imaginations, and whose end may be in manifest words and actions. It is an inevitable process of the mind. Thinking is an internal process, skewed within the confines of the mind, evolving through what is assumed to be a spontaneous process and crafting essentially the product of thoughts. This is to say thought is the immediate product of the thinking process. We have discovered that mostly our mind's preoccupation is the thought or thinking process, to the extent that we think and continue to think without thought. We think and continually spew thoughts in as long as we are alive, awake and aware. But why is it so? Why does it seem we inevitably think? We think because essentially it is what defines the mind, the prominent component of a person that is alive

Extending The Stay, Justifies The Speculation

Image
President Buhari was supposed to have returned to the country, today, 6th of February, 2017 after having exhausted the 10 days medical leave for which he did communicate to the Senate. But barely some hours to his anticipated return, Nigerians have been inundated with news of the extension of the leave. The purported receipt of the letter informing the Senate nay Nigerians of the extension did more than merely passing an information. It did more than elicit concerns; the surprise extension dropped pangs of fear and apprehension for what's been insinuations and what lies ahead, respectively. When Mr President left for the UK on the 19th of January for his annual vacation, which was later known to be for medical reasons, his absence didn't just leave a vacuum but it became a credible avenue to insinuate and speculate and rather badly over the state of health and the possible death of Mr President. News flown around, consistently for all the while expectant Nigerians look

Why On Earth Did Tuface Back Out?

Image
Still on the Tuface Hardship Protest... I think we have better things to do with our energy, for our country and at this admittedly hard moment than protesting. Nothing that can be effectively changed, bettered and sustained by protest than by effective dialogue, credible suggestions and deep-rooted discreet civic sensitization. Tuface, by his indication for a protest, raved up interests, he charged up zeal and he has inspired people who were meaning to join the movement his name has identified, though he missed the ultimate end in having his building supports disappointed by the last minute back down. But just as he rightly said, he had made a statement; and let's believe so. But I believe also, that it would have been more efficacious if, considering his personality and influence, Tuface had made that statement in a mature way by engaging the authorities; he would have been availed that chance. Instead he chose to scurry empathy, more popularity by making it a crowd thing

Tuface Protest And Matters Arising

Image
Emelda: Ehee, Emeka, shey you know the protest is tomorrow. Are you going? Emeka: (aghast) Which protest again? Emelda: (surprise) Ahn ahn. The Tuface hardship protest, have you forgotten? Emeka; Oh, you have not heard? It's been canceled. Tubaba himself canceled it. Emelda left disappointed. TUFACE IDIBIA is in the news again, after been so for the while that he made known a planned protest that would have been seen as a statement against the continuous hardship currently faced by Nigerians. He has reportedly canceled the protest billed to hold simultaneously in Abuja and Lagos on the 6th of February. But then, what do we make of it? When the popular Afro-hip hop singer and one of Africa's top musicians announced that he was staging an anti-government protest, he didn't just express a personal wish; far beyond that, he elicited a sprawling desire. This is considering the fact that he has established a massive following that has grown into a fanatical base

Are All Things Possible Indeed? (2)

"From what is observed, the things we see, do they not put a question mark to the believe that all things possible?" Often, we are faced with the truism: all things are possible. Nonetheless, when we analyse critically the many vicissitudes that pervade life, together with the flowing circumstances which man himself is warped in, we would consider negotiating a sudden halt; one that is apt for the urgency to very well examine the workability of this much taunted aphorism in the midst of the oodles of natural expositions that have come to inundate us and carve up our convictions. There is the immediate impulsion to deny it; for at the end, what we come to discover from the vintage of our limited realm of observance is that there are actually some certainties which are better left in the imaginations. Everything is not possible as we are sought out to believe by the emotive claims of the wise; and that on its own is the result of a factual, careful and hands on examination

Are All Things Possible Indeed? (1)

This is the first part in the series of discussion that would be focusing on the possibilities of the Mind... ‘All things are possible...’ This is one quotation that we are used to. Oftentimes, we’ve heard it been employed as a soothing mechanism to inspire. Oftentimes also, and for similar reason, we’ve found this inspiring effect in it apt to employ its usage. Largely, we have heard and as well said this truism; and mostly for the convenience it offers. Yes, the “can do” spirit which the statement carries spurs, it encourages; ostensibly denying one of the disillusionment which their challenges poses them with—and it is the enlivening twitch that basically necessitates its oft application. But then, that-the phrase seems only to be a momentarily provisional healing that lasts while it’s said. How many have really given thought to the weight of what that statement bears; how many have gone beyond the momentary rejuvenation and spur it gives to appreciate its practicality—its fac
